Feaster Five

Thanksgiving is a special day–not just because of the turkey and family gatherings, but because it gives runners a choice of more road races than any other day of the year. Every small town has its own beloved Turkey Trot…but in New England, none is bigger than the Feaster Five. This 5K and 5 mile race in Andover, Mass. draws over 10,000 runners!

It’s cold this morning, but that doesn’t deter the hearty runners, who come from every town in the Merrimack Valley to flood Andover’s main street, and then flow like a river through the sleepy town.

Come! Run with me now…

(I took this photo, and the others below, while running.)

(Rick and Dick Hoyt, of Team Hoyt pass me midway into the race.)

All right! Let’s get to the good stuff–an HD video that puts you right in the middle of this race. Go ahead! Click the ‘Play’ button below. (And be sure to view it in Full-Screen as a 720P HD video, so you’ll see the race in panoramic, high-resolution.)

Were you at this race–and if so, what did you like best about it? What could be improved?

(If you weren’t there, I hope these photos and HD video gave you a taste of the race…and I hope I’ll see you at a race next week.)
