Canal Diggers 5K

Hosted by the Central Mass Striders, the Canal Diggers 5K in Worcester, MA is a road race that really treats you right.

Most races give you a cotton T-shirt; the Canal Diggers 5K gives you a technical running shirt that I think I will really run in.

Most road races have a sign to mark each mile; the Canal Diggers 5K has a big digital clock at each mile, to spur you on.

And of course most races have some post-race nourishment, often just bananas and water; but the Canal Diggers 5K has a great BBQ with burgers, chicken, pizza–and excellent Harpoon beer!

Could I ask for anything more in a road race?

Sure.  I could hope for a fast course.  And the Canal Diggers 5K delivers.  I know it must be fast because I ran a minute and a half faster than I have at any other 5K this year.

(P.S.  I ran barefoot, and found the asphalt very smooth underfoot, every step of the way.)

Come! Run with me now…

(I took this photo, and the others below, while running.)

That was just a few snapshots, to give a you a taste. Now, come experience the entire race!

There are two ways to do this:

1) you can peruse a photo gallery on Facebook (tagging yourself and your friends)…

or…

2) you can immerse yourself in a full-screen HD video!
