White Mountain Milers (WMM) Half Marathon

Here are photos I took at the 2009 White Mountain Milers (WMM) Half Marathon in North Conway, NH.

Although it is in the White Mountains, the course is remarkably flat…and the foliage was beautiful (despite a deluge of Biblical proportions the day before).

After the race, we all enjoyed Very Fancy Pizza.  (It was so fancy they call it “Flatbread.”)

I ran with a camera, and took pictures as I ran. (Yes, I took photos as I ran. I didn’t stop or slow down. After all, I was in a race!) Allan D. Morrison 5K

Here are photos I took while running the Allan D. Morrison 5K in Melrose, MA.

This was the first year of the race, but the race director and all the volunteers did a terrific job.  The course was scenic, well-marked and well-supported.

However…I should add that it started FAST and ended hard.  The first two miles were a downhill romp, and I reached the 2-mile mark a full minute ahead of my pace from last week’s 5K.  Oboy, I thought.  I’m going to PR today!

No such luck.  The final mile was uphill.  Not very steep, but every step was uphill…and that was enough to take the wind out of my sails.  So I finished almost a minute slower than my time from last week’s 5K.  But that’s okay.  I ran through a beautiful community, surrounded by happy runners, and I have no complaints.

As you no doubt have come to expect, I ran with a camera, and took pictures as I ran. (Yes, I took photos as I ran. I didn’t stop or slow down. After all, I was in a race!) After the race I had to leave to meet a friend for coffee and conversation…but I understand that the race organizers hosted an excellent post-race gathering with food and drink.

Great Island 5K

Here are photos I took while running the 2009 Great Island 5K in New Castle, NH.

The course was scenic, well-marked and well-supported, as you can see from the pictures in the slideshow below.

Irish American Road Race

The Irish-American 5-mile road race in Woburn is wonderful blend of town and country. You run down Main Street as if you own it…then turn and climb a couple of short hills to find yourself in the green coolness of the Horn Pond Reservation. A long loop around the Pond takes you back to the town…and then a short but challenging climb brings you to the finish line.

That’s where the real fun begins! Hot dogs…beer…and live music at the Irish American Club. The Shamrock Running Club puts on a great race, and a great post-race party.

Come! Run with me now…

(I took this photo, and the others below, while running.)

All right! Let’s get to the good stuff–an HD video that puts you right in the middle of this race. Go ahead! Click the ‘Play’ button below. (And be sure to view the video in Full-Screen, so you’ll see the race in panoramic, high-resolution.)

Were you at this race–and if so, what did you like best about it? What could be improved?

(If you weren’t there, I hope these photos and HD video gave you a taste of the race…and I hope I’ll see you at a race next week.)
