Yankee Homecoming 10-Miler

Here are photos I took while running the 2009 Yankee Homecoming 10-Miler in Newburyport, MA.

As it is every year, this race was a steam bath. Temps near ninety, and humidity that made the air like a wet carpet. But the crowd support was fantastic, with people cheering, hosing us down, and high-fiving us as we ran by.

I ran with a camera, and took pictures as I ran. (Yes, I took photos as I ran. I didn’t stop or slow down. After all, I was in a race!) Luv2Run 5K Trail Race

The Luv2Run 5K in Portland is billed as a trail race–a phrase that always conjures images of mud, tree roots, and giant boulders–but this is no scramble up a rough mountain trail. It’s a pleasant, flat tour around a park in Portland. The surface underfoot is soft and sweet (some kind of crushed rock)…the views are blue and green…and the salt air fills you with energy.

Come! Run with me now…

(I took the following photos while running.)

All right! Let’s get to the good stuff–an HD video that puts you right in the middle of this race. Go ahead! Click the ‘Play’ button below. (And be sure to view the video in Full-Screen, so you’ll see the photos in panoramic, high-resolution.)

Were you at this race–and if so, what did you like best about it? What could be improved?

(If you weren’t there, I hope these photos and HD video gave you a taste of the race…and I hope I’ll see you at a race next week.)
